<The FingerPrint GSi is a push button screen capture utility :
8card for the Apple IIgs which allows you to capture any >
<image or text from the screen of your computer at the touch 3
1of a button, from inside of any program without =
;interrupting the program. Images can be printed up to 140 >
<feet wide by 100 feet high, exported to PaintWorks Gold and =
;other paint programs, plus lots more which I'll talk about 8
later, but first let me see if you have any questions.
<The control of the functions of the card are built into the ;
9firmware and require no additional software. All of the >
<functions are firmware based, including both ProDOS and DOS
3.3 and all disk functions.
:The card operates independent of the operating system you :
8have present in the IIgs. You can execute DOS 3.3 disk ;
9commands or ProDOS commands regardless of what system is
loaded.
7The FIngerPrint GSi is a small computer. The firmware =
;consists of a special operating system, programs and Apple ;
9tools plus lots of secrets. If you are running a ProDOS :
8program and wish to save the image to disk, the default :
8operating system under which the image will be saved is ?
=ProDOS. If you wish, you can select to save the image under 9
7DOS 3.3 by selecting an option in our menu. It's that
simple.
;The control panel IS NOT SET and the card can be placed in ;
9any slot, we recommend slot 3. Again, the control panel ;
9does not have to be set, the card is fully transparent. ?
=Slot 3 can only be used by a few special function cards, and
otherwise is unusable.
;The FingerPrint GSi is NOT a parallel interface card. The >
<card uses the IIgs internal serial ports or a parallel card +
from Thirdware or compatible in any slot.
;Also a serial card can be used in any slot, without having
to change the control panel.
:The push-button is a 1 millimeter thick flat mylar ribbon @
>with a square pad on the end which is connected to the card. =
;The pad is self adhesive and can be placed anywhere on the :
8IIgs body. Remember the keyboard can be disabled by an ;
9application, and therefore, the application would become
uninterruptable.
NO SOFTWARE AT ALL IS REQUIRED! Everything is in ROM.
Suggested retail price $129.00.
Schools may purchase the product for $103.20.
<Super Hi-res screens are saved as $C1 type files when using >
<ProDOS. All of the other graphic files are saved as binary <
:files. No compression is used in any of the graphic file <
:formats, so that the length is the total amount of memory <
:used by the graphic image. In DOS 3.3, only binary files =
;are used. Most paint programs such as PaintWorks Gold and =
;DeluxePaint can directly read FingerPrint GSi Super Hi-res <
:files. The card also has a firmware utility which allows <
:you to convert any Lo-res or Hi-res image to Super Hi-res ?
=and then save it to disk. During the conversion you can use <
:the cropping, enlarging, rotating and other graphic magic $
functions to manipulate the image.
9The firmware allows you to save images, rotate, enlarge, ;
9flip, zoom and invert images, while printing. Also, any =
;image can be printed as a billboard up to 140 feet wide by 6
100 feet high. Just like making your own wallpaper.
<Most popular printers and many strange esoteric ink-jet and >
<paint-jet printers are supported too. Any printer that has ?
=a color printing capability is fully supported in color. By 7
5the way, our printer selection list contains over 25
printers.
<At the moment the LaserWriter is not fully supported. But,
we are working on it.
=We are one of the few companies that have a complete printer ?
=driver library for the Apple IIgs. We license these drivers
to different software houses.
;I think that AppleTalk will come after serial support. As 8
of yet, no fixed date, but I will not say Any Day Now.
<For the IIe we have the FingerPrint Plus card which is both ?
=serial and parallel. It also has push button screen capture :
8and save to disk options, though not as advanced as the ?
=FingerPrint GSi. Retail price $149.00 including one printer )
cable (parallel/ImageWriter II/Serial).
;The FingerPrint G+ is an enhanced graphic parallel printer 6
4interface for the Apple IIe & IIgs, fully Grappler+ 5
3compatible and comes with a cable for $79.00. The 8
6FingerPrint SuperSerial is an enhanced serial graphic ?
=printer interface card fully Apple Super Serial compatible. 8
6$79.00 including cable. The FingerPrint IIc has been -
discontinued due to lack of market support.
=We are in close contact with Apple and we will be coming out =
;with products for the Mac next year. Actually, we are one :
8of the few hardware developers still developing for the
Apple II series.
8The resolution of a Super Hi-res screen is 640 dots per 7
5line, and we currently print twice that resolution. =
;Printing a higher resolution will only result in more ink, 6
4more time and no improvement in the resolution. An :
8important thing to consider is that the only way to get =
higher resolution is for Apple to build that into the IIgs.
7The FingerPrint GSi has many uses in other areas. One 9
7high-end user is A+ magazine. They use FingerPrint to 6
capture screen images from the software they review.
:Then they send the diskette with the FingerPrint files to =
;the printer who automatically creates color negatives from =
;the files. Also, many software developers use FingerPrint 6
4to create manuals for their software. One software >
<developer even use FingerPrint to create the clip-art files =
;for their desktop publishing program. People have written 6
4us with hundreds of applications including one avid =
;adventure game player who wallpapered his room with images >
<from his favorite games. Other uses include accessing disk :
8utilities to catalog, rename, delete, lock/unlock, etc. <
:files from inside of any program without interrupting the >
<program. A school even uses the card to create scenery for =
;plays! I could go on, but no one else would get a word in >
<edgewise. Any one interested in applications can subscribe =
;to our user newsletter, published 6 times yearly and costs
$3.00 per year.
=The card includes a full set of DOS and ProDOS file commands ?
=available to be called up on command. All at the touch of a ;
9button. By the way, you can catalog a DOS 3.3 diskette, )
even though you're in a ProDOS program.
=With Pascal or CP/M loaded you can access all commands. The ;
9card works from inside of any operating system, but only 5
ProDOS and DOS 3.3 commands are supported from ROM.
It works independent of GS/OS.
<The FingerPrint GSi is a push button screen capture utility ?
=card for the Apple IIgs that allows you to capture any image =
;from any program at the touch of a button, while inside of ?
=any program without interrupting the program. Images can be >
<captured and manipulated, rotated, enlarged (up to 140 feet <
:wide by 100 feet high) and much more. Also images can be 8
6saved to disk where they can be read by programs like
PaintWorks Gold, etc.
=The GSi is a utility card that uses the IIgs internal serial 0
ports or an auxiliary parallel or serial card.
<Apple is fully behind the IIgs, and will eventually develop <
:the platform, so that it integrates directly with the Mac =
;family. You must remember that the goal of Apple Computer =
;Inc is to be a leader of technological innovation and make ?
=the personal computer an experience for everybody. To cover 9
7all aspects of the market, different platforms must be =
;developed. Where the big market exists, the most money is <
:placed. Presently Apple is dedicated to establishing the >
<Mac family in business and government. Next year, the IIgs
will get its chance.
;Apple evangelists are there to help "evangelize" new ideas 4
2and products inside Apple and through third party ?
=developers. If you are developing products in the same vein ?
=as Apple, you get lots of support. If not, you get a polite ?
=answering machine. The tech support side is fully dedicated >
<to helping all developers regardless of size. Important to =
;note is that if you know who to contact you will get a lot )
further than if you don't know someone.
9Enough said on that! One last, and seemingly inevitable 8
6question. Are you able to clue us in as to any other 2
products you have in the works for the Apple II?
=We will try to set up a support service on GEnie. Hopefully
before the end of next month.
